About Julie

I am an ACA registered psychotherapist working in private practice providing psychotherapy and counselling to individuals. I have a background in art and design with a Bachelor of Visual Arts and a diploma in fashion design. I've spent almost two decades working as an artist, and this continues to be a big part of my life. For me, painting has always been a great source of therapy and a channel to examine my interest in the nature of consciousness, human behaviour and to explore my inner world.

I started working with a psychotherapist in my early 20s. I had trauma to process and a longing for a more robust sense of self. I found the therapeutic process incredibly expanding and I can happily say that therapy has been truly life-changing for me. My own experience with psychotherapy has given me a genuine desire to help others and, the understanding of the importance of providing a safe and supportive space to comprehend and integrate life's multifaceted experiences.

My Bachelor of Integrative Psychotherapy was received from Ikon Institute Australia, one of Australia's leading schools in the field. I have also completed further training in MBT (mentalization based treatment) and specialise in adult attachment repair.

How I practice

Foundational to my practice is an integrative and person centred approach. Simply put, I firmly believe in the innate drive within individuals to move towards flourishing, even when they have encountered obstacles along the way. In essence, my role is to support this journey towards flourishing.

My approach involves fostering self-understanding in the client, allowing them to draw their own conclusions. I adhere to a non-judgmental and non-directive style, emphasising collaboration to help build healthy relational maps and empower the client's agency.

I am dedicated to establishing a secure space where individuals can openly express themselves, fostering a genuine human-to-human connection. My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based models, customised to suit the unique needs of each client.
